{And here is a little story}
My mother enrolled me in a painting class when I was a wee 9 years old. The class was held in a small garage in Burlingame, CA and was taught by a wonderful woman named Nancy Call Torres. Through practicing with her, I found one of my "passions," as they say. However, there was something missing. I didn't just want to paint on a white canvas. Something about it seemed off; I needed variety.
Thus began my quest for something more. I needed human interaction because that is one of my true passions (amongst laughing.) I slowly started painting on my face with what we call "makeup." Instead, I like to think of it simply as colors used to paint oneself. If we think a little further, makeup is really a tool to make oneself up. You can be whoever you want to be.
On that note, I started coloring on my face like a child with crayons and it was amazing. I found it so intriguing how much fun one could have with painting on the face and how different one could look by using colors on this unique canvas. Then by request, I started doing my friends' makeup and then hair. Twelve years after beginning to paint, I started getting paid for what I was skilled at and ended up painting on my teacher Nancy Call Torres' face for a fashion show. It was incredible to have it all come together in such a beautiful movement.
I realized that I could paint on a different canvas every time I worked with a new human being. I also came to the understanding that I could do what I truly love the most: bring out the BEST in a fellow person and make them feel like royalty. I believe we are all Kings and Queens and it's my job to bring out that person in you.
I'm glad I've never had any classical training in performing makeup and mane sensations because it allows me to use a myriad amount of wonderful products and experiences. I have; however, gained a huge amount of experience, knowledge and practice working on photoshoots for commercials, film, magazines, weddings, portfolios and special occasions.
